7 things politicians could learn from Al Capone

The American people are clearly fed up with the increasingly scandalous behavior of politicians.  So what, do you suppose, could politicians learn from the most notorious gangster in history?  ...Try this:
  • Your word should be your bond.
  • Family is everything.
  • Don't let your head get to big for your hat.
  • Pay your taxes.  (Al got 11 years, not a cabinet post.)
  • Be proud to be an American.
  • Don't lie to the people you work for.
  • Find out what it's like to run a business and meet a payroll.
No one still living knew Al Capone as well as Deirdre. She lived with him and his family.  He taught her how to swim, ride a bike, and play the mandolin.  Al, his brothers and only sister also taught her to love America, and have certain values that are often sadly lacking in politicians.

Was Al Capone a Saint?  Far from it.  Deirdre readily admits he was a mobster...but not a monster.  He bucked the most unpopular law in American history, created jobs, opened the first soup kitchens, ran The Outfit like a business, tried to make peace with his enemies, never killed an innocent person, and had disdain for the crooked, hypocritical politicians on his payroll.

If time permits she will also tell your audience:
  • Who REALLY engineered the St. Valentine's Day massacre....And she has proof!
  • How Al Capone launched the careers of Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole.
  • 5 myths debunked about Al Capone.
  • How Boardwalk Empire, The Godfather, and The Sopranos compare with a real-life crime family, The Capones.
Deirdre is bright, attractive, articulate and charismatic.  She has done compelling interviews on NBC's Today Show, CBS radio in San Francisco and Minnesota, the Mancow Show, Coast to Coast Radio, and others listed on the Media Page of this website www.unclealcapone.com
