Celebrity Martini Glass Auction New Picture

The Celebrity Martini Glass Auction will be held in Naples, Florida on Sunday February 23, 2014. The auction is for the benefit of two Naples Florida charities. One is the Wounded Warriors Project.
The second charity is Naples own PAWS.

Wounded Warriors

PAWS Assistance Dogs, Inc. is recognized as a non-profit, charitable organization.  A Candidate Member of Assistance Dogs International since 2009, their service dogs are gifted to individuals at no cost. While their primary focus is to place service and assistance dogs to Veterans with combat related disabilities and children with neurological and physical disabilities, they do occasionally accept applications from individuals with other qualifying disabilities. Preference for placement is given to residents of central and south Florida.

 My uncle Al Capone will have a martini glass, which I have signed, up for auction at the event. I know my uncle, in fact all of my ancestors, are very happy to raise money for these two charities. Here is the martini glass that an artist in Chicago designed.

 This recipe is over 150 years old. Enjoy it.

Sesame Cookie Recipe

3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 cup butter (or shortening)
¼ cup milk (you could use orange juice)
3 eggs
1 ½ tsp vanilla
1 cup sesame seeds
preheat oven 375°


Cream butter and add sugar
Sift together dry ingredients then cut in the butter, sugar mixture.
Add the eggs and milk and vanilla. Mix very well. Pinch pieces of dough and form into 1 ½ inch balls. Roll balls in sesame seeds and bake for 20 minutes until light brown.
Makes 6 to 8 dozen cookies

Celebrity Martini Glass Auction

In February 2014 a local company, CMGA of Naples Florida, auctions off martini glasses signed by celebrities to raise money for charity. This year they are raising money for Freedom Flights for local WWII veterans to fly to Washington DC and tour the WWII Memorial. They are also raising money to get a companion dog for a local Afghanistan disabled veteran. These dogs totally transform the lives of disabled veterans. There is a local company, PAWS, who trains the dog. The cost is $35,000.00 but the transformation is worth every cent.
I am one of the celebrities and I have signed the glass made of my uncle Al Capone. It is truly a work of art.
